Shanghai 1

On Friday we arrived at Shanghai airport after flying on a first class Virgin Atlantic plane. As you may or may not know this is also my geography and history project so a quick lesson now. We are staying in Shanghai city in China. China, even though we have had no signs as yet, is a communist country thank's to this guy called Mao. After following mums friend advice, we managed to get through Customs in two minutes and get on to the fastest train in the world, even faster then the bullet train, The Maglev (pic). It reaches a top speed of 431KM per hour (pic) and is electric. After that we got in a cab and were immediately swindled out of at least 140 rmb (14 rmb=£1).

Then we went out to the guys house who gave us the handy hint about the Customs check in and stayed for a couple of hours until our rooms were ready we had lunch in a restaurant that did western food. We then had a nap because we were all Jet lagged (China is 7 hours ahead of you in England). After that, we went to another friend’s house to have our first Chinese home cooking, cooked by a Chinese lady It was great. Next morning I saw two butterfly’s at breakfast (pic). We then went out to the bund–the riverfront - where we crossed to the other side in a fantastic tunnel lit by neon lights, the effect was amazing. We went through in a see through pod. On the other side 20 people tried to sell us fake Rolex watches. we saw a brief history of Shanghai in this amazing building (pic) and we had lunch in the highest building in china which has a fantastic atrium between the 56-87 floors (pic of atrium). After those two we went to a building in the bund where we saw this art museum which had a really cool camera thing which showed you with chines letters following your every move (pic) .

We have noticed there are a lot of weddings and we think we saw 15-20 wedding cars We are told the weddings average cost is $30 000 US dollars, In a poor country how can they afford this. They also have expensive shops too. Then we came back to the hotel. We then went to see acrobats, they were amazing. Oh and Conor I’m wearing the bracelet you gave me around the world Samson.

We are of to Shanghai in 2 hours it is so exciting. I can't wait to go there it is going to be great. Now someone has to tell me the football results (especial arsenal) so when you comment include if possible. I'll keep you posted. Samson.
